Rae Crowther Climb Sled
Rae Crowther Climb Sled Benefit Statement
The Climb Sled is a revolutionary tool designed to teach the mechanics of hip-driven power and eliminate the helmet from contact, making it one of the most effective training sleds for base blocks. Developed with input from longtime professional coach Bill Callahan, the Climb Sled helps players—especially undersized linemen—learn the "Force Deflection" technique, which uses hip power to elevate the opponent’s spine, diminishing their leverage and strength.
The sled's adjustable S-Pad allows the coach to modify the contact angle, simulating various stances such as pass blocking or base blocking. Players practice the Climb technique by striking under the shoulder pads with an uppercut motion while using the built-in breastplate for leverage. This technique encourages the offensive lineman to engage their hips while keeping the head clear of contact.
The Climb Sled offers two versions—Pro and High School—with the Pro model being 3 inches taller and 100 lbs heavier. Its design forces players to rely on hip-driven force, which leads to more effective blocking without head contact, increasing both performance and safety.
